Chemical peels offer an effective solution to an array of skin concerns, including fine lines, acne scars and hyperpigmentation. At ENT Physicians, our facial treatments are tailored to your unique skin type and goals, delivering visible results and a refreshed complexion.
Who Benefits from Chemical Peels?
- Individuals with sun-damaged skin: Those who have prolonged exposure to the sun and want to reduce the appearance of sun spots or uneven pigmentation.
- Aging individuals: A chemical peel can be useful for people who want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that come with aging.
- People with acne: Those struggling with acne or acne scars may see improved skin appearance after a chemical peel.
- Individuals with scars: People with certain types of scars or skin discolorations may consider getting a chemical peel.
- People seeking a skin refresh: Anyone desiring a refreshed and rejuvenated skin appearance can opt for a chemical peel.
However, you should not receive a chemical peel if you’re pregnant, have a family history of keloids, experience frequent or severe cold sore outbreaks or you’ve taken the oral acne medication isotretinoin in the last six months.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Light Chemical Peels

Light chemical peels use alpha hydroxy acid and remove the outer layer of skin.
Medium Chemical Peels
Trichloroacetic acid is used to remove the middle layer of the skin.
Deep Chemical Peels
Phenol is used for deep chemical peels, which penetrate down to the lowest layers of skin. Deep chemical peels often involve pretreatment with medication like Retin A to prepare your skin and facilitate the healing process.
Should I Be Aware of Any Risks?
Your aesthetician will discuss any side effects that may be associated with your specific treatment.
Side effects vary based on the chemical solution and may include:
- Burning
- Stinging
- Swelling
- Discomfort
What Results Can I Expect from a Chemical Peel?
Your doctor will thoroughly discuss the expected outcomes of your chemical peel. Immediate results will depend on your specific procedure. A light chemical peel’s results may be subtle but can increase with multiple treatments. Skin will be significantly smoother with medium and deep chemical peels.
While light chemical peels can be repeated weekly for six weeks and medium chemicals can be repeated every six to 12 months, deep chemical peels require a longer recovery time.
Your provider will make sure you know what to expect during the procedure and how to care for your skin as you recover. We’re ready to partner with you for every step of this process.
